Why I’m a Fan of Jordan Peterson
A personal essay to undercut the conservative-dissing bandwagon.
After spending a little time back on Medium, I’ve come across my fair share of articles bashing conservative public figures. From critiques of Matt Walsh to crude expositions of Ben Shapiro, it seems like this site is saturated with irritated, conservative-hating liberals.
And that is perfectly justifiable.
I have my reservations about almost every thought leader I know. After all, what’s the point of blindly following the opinion of others? Politics, religion, and other social issues require unique perspectives and precise thinking. They are no place for lackeys latching on to any charismatic figure they find.
That being said, I do stumble upon the occasional piece on Jordan Peterson. Many go as far as claiming he is a misogynist with an army of angry men. Otherwise, they at least critique him for dodging questions or being purposefully obscure, hiding behind a wall of jargon and pseudo-science.
While I don’t agree with everything he says, I have to admit that he did impact my life in a significant way. So naturally, whenever I read pieces labeling him as a liar, a pseudo-intellectual, and an angry white conservative, I squirm a little in my seat.
